My good friend Dr Andrew Tate was in the middle of his English PHD when he wrote these words. His subject matter was John Ruskin the art critic of the Victorian era. The song is about Ruskin's spiritual awakening when he saw Veronese's painting, 'Soloman and the Queen of Sheba' on a visit to Italy in the 1800s.
lyrics
Words
Falling from England losing my home
don't try to catch me as I fall
into a thousand new questions
I am losing yesterday
I not sure what she means, I not sure what she says
but she breathes new life on this fragile flesh
Tell me where I'm supposed to go from here
Drunk I fall on her life soaked wine
Tell me why I've forgotten my own name
I keep drinking, I keep falling on this wine
She breaks the world into fragments of truth
maybe these arrows of light show the way
but don't show me the old way home
Home gets harder to see
as she spits on my eyes
I know, I know that I'm not blind
Tell me where I'm supposed to go from here
drunk I fall on her life soaked wine
Tell me why I've forgotten my own name
I keep drinking, I keep falling on this wine
Their cold science is killing
as she brings new Pentecost
maybe I'm born again
I know I've not changed truth for a lie
and if I die right now
will I be in those arms tonight
Tell me where I'm supposed to go from here
drunk I fall on her life soaked wine
Tell me why I've forgotten my own name
I keep drinking, I keep falling on this wine
